Cortical Alterations in Brain Diseases
Target: What are the changes in cortical circuitry that induce brain diseases such as epilepsy or Alzheimer’s disease? How we can prevent the progression of the disease?
In order to help us, to answer these questions we study the morphological and neurochemical alterations caused by some brain diseases (such as epilepsy or Alzheimer ’s disease).
Detailed description: Pathological brain tissue obtained from different neurological disease is studied by light and electron microscopy techniques. The pathological tissue is obtained from experimental animal models (as transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer ’s disease) and human brain tissue (including epileptic brain biopsies and autopsies).
